Rumours that Jose Mourinho has waded in on the Cesc Fabregas situation by offering Arsenal €50m are false.
A couple of sources claim that reports in Spain suggest Real Madrid are preparing to snatch Fabregas from under the noses of their fierce rivals but we’ve scoured the Spanish papers this morning and we can’t find any mention of a Real Madrid bid.
However the Catalan club upped their offer to £31.5m from £27m last night as negotiations between the two clubs continue.
It is believed that Barcelona do not want to pay more than £31.5m for Fabregas but Arsenal are holding out for £35m so there is still some way to go before the two clubs reach an agreement.
Fabregas is in Barcelona following his summer break and wants a move to Barcelona wrapped up before Arsenal begin their pre-season training on July 5th.
The saga has become very boring and with it being a case of the two clubs agreeing a fee for Fabregas, we hope Fabregas’ agent Darren Dein and the Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu can come to a conclusion sooner rather than later.
Yesterday we reported that Arsene Wenger was preparing to spend £15m of the Fabregas money on Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Arturo Vidal and with the emergence of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey, losing Fabregas wouldn’t be so much of a blow.
Last summer Fabregas claimed he was desperate to sign for Barcelona but a move never materialised, however this summer it is clear that Fabregas is adamant Barcelona will be his new club come September and the Arsenal fans should be resigned to losing their captain.
