Having publically declared his admiration for the Premier League it bodes well for Swansea’s chances of landing Marseille forward Andre Ayew this summer, even if he does support Liverpool.

Since Wilfried Bony upped sticks in January, Swansea’s hunt for the Ivorian’s long-term replacement has bubbled along with several names linked to the Liberty Stadium outfit.

The latest target is not an alien presence in gossip columns either, as a successful World Cup for Ghanaian international Ayew thrust the livewire striker into the limelight.

Although the Black Stars struggled in a really tough group, Ayew excelled in bagging two of the four goals his country mustered at the tournament and links to several Premier League clubs swiftly followed.

One such was Liverpool, who Ayew has since dropped a huge hint about.

“All my life I have been a Liverpool fan,” Ayew said. “When I was young I was watching the Liverpool games.”

However, he then widened the possibility of a different potential destination on English shores should the 25-year-old leave Marseille as the trail to Anfield remains cool.

“I will make a decision soon, and look at the offers that are coming in and decide what is best for my future.

‘”The Premier League is the best league in the world today, and it would be an honour play there,” he added.

Ayew also excelled at the recent African Cup of Nations, where he joint-top score with three en-route to the final, only to finish on the wrong side of a penalty shootout loss.

The versatile 25-year-old, who can operate on the wing, does carry a fairly modest goals record from his time at the Stade Velodrome, where 16 remains his best return from five seasons.

This season Ayew has scored eight times in 23 appearances.
