With Premier League survival all but secured in recent weeks, Swansea have begun preparing for another season in the top tier and they’re particularly keen on adding some extra quality up front.
Only three sides have netted fewer goals than the Welsh club’s 31 league goals this term, and it doesn’t bode well for the club’s strikers that midfielder Gylffi Sigurdsson is the Swan’s top scorer.
Both Wilfried Bony and Michu have proven in recent years that the Liberty Stadium is a place for goal-busting forwards, and reports this week are linking the club with a move for Ecuador hotshot Miler Bolanos.
The 25-year-old netted a tidy 44 goals in 70 appearances in his homeland’s Serie A for Emelec, but despite moving to Brazilian force Gremio last month, it appears a move to Europe could still be on the cards.
Currently nursing a broken jaw, Bolanos is also targeted by Brighton, but a move to the south coast may depend on the Seagulls achieving promotion from the Championship.
A further plus for Swansea’s hopes of landing the £6m man is Bolanos’ international team-mate Jefferson Montero, who is already a fan favourite in south west Wales.
With a ten-point gap to the drop zone and just two months of the season remaining, only a crazy set of results can deny Swansea Premier League football next term.
With safety pretty much in the bag, it’s clear Huw Jenkins’ club are now ready to start making inroads to bring the side back to their top-half heroics of just a couple of seasons ago.
