Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has urged his players to make the most of their impressive home form against Newcastle United this Saturday.
The Potters have lost their last six away games in the league, but their impressive recent home form – they’ve won three and drawn one of their last four league games at the Britannia – means they have so far avoided being dragged into a relegation battle.
They are 6/5 favourites to win this game and Pulis knows winning matches like this are vital to keeping his side in the Premier League.
He said: “We’re unbeaten at home since the Fulham game just after Christmas so our home form hasn’t been too bad. What we’ve done is played a lot of cup games in that period of time, and we’ve won those games.
“We’d have liked to have sprinkled it with a few results away from home but now we’ve got a run of home games, we’ve got more home games left than away games, and we have to make sure our home form is solid, as we have done over the last two and a half years.”
They will have a tricky task against Newcastle though. Alan Pardew’s side boast the sixth best away record in the league and have lost just one of their previous five away from St James’s Park.
They’ve conceded just three goals in those five games as well and, with Stoke only having the 14th best home attack in the division, this could be a close game.
Backing the game to finish level at 23/10 could yield a very tidy profit.
