Stoke City are leading the race to snap up out of contract defender Glen Johnson, according to Ladbrokes.
The right-back, capped 54 times by England, is without a club after running down the clock on his Liverpool deal and currently weighing up offers from several clubs.
West Ham, Sunderland and Turkish outfit Besiktas are also in the running but with the bookmaker pricing Stoke’s chances of landing the 30-year-old at evens the market suggests the Britannia Stadium is his most likely destination.
West Ham are next in the betting at 3/1 and after giving the former Chelsea and Liverpool man his start, the Upton Park faithful would welcome the chance to see the attack-minded full-back return and repay the Irons’ early faith.
Sunderland and Besiktas are priced at 7/1 and 8/1 respectively but the 16/1 on Johnson spending his twilight years in Bournemouth could prove more attractive.
The Cherries have spent big on defensive reinforcements so far this summer, with club record signing Tyrone Mings joining from Ipswich for £8m and Everton veteran Sylvain Distin agreeing £40,000-per-week terms.
Mings has operated as a right back in his career thus far but there are reports that Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe sees his future at centre-half, potentially creating space for Johnson in the Cherries ranks.
However, with Mark Hughes taking Stoke in the right direction and adding touches of continental class to his squad, it’s difficult to see Johnson turning down the Potters for any other club at this point.
