Carlos Tevez’ Premier League career appears to be over as family reasons have led to him handing in a second transfer request at Manchester City.

Tevez has been a critical part of Manchester City’s development in the last two seasons and the fact that he finished joint-top scorer in the Premier League during the last campaign with 20 goals was pivotal in the club reaching the Champions League for the first time.

However, the past 12 months, in particular, have been difficult for Tevez as after his family failed to settle in England he has had little time to spend with his two daughters.

Although a move back to South America would be preferred by Tevez, it is unlikely that any club would be able to meet Manchester City’s £40m asking price or even pay the wages of the 27-year-old, who would want the equivalent of £200,000 a week.

A move to Spain or Italy could work for Tevez as his family may be prepared to give Europe another try, but his choices are limited because of the financial strain of such a deal.

Barcelona’s budget is unlikely to stretch to Tevez, Real Madrid are already reported to be winning the £45m race for young Brazilian Neymar, while Inter Milan have indicated previously that they cannot afford the Argentine striker.

This would leave wealthy Malaga as a potential option and anyone else in Serie A who could stump up the cash.

Tevez said: “I hope that most of the City fans will understand that I have given them my all on the pitch and that my dedication to the City cause has been 100 per cent on the pitch.

“I hope I have done my bit to help City continue their progress towards their ambition to be champions of England and to advance in the Champions League.”

Manchester City’s odds are 7/2 to win the Premier League this season, even though they will find it extremely tough to replace Tevez.
