Gervinho is on the verge of completing a £10m move to Arsenal after deciding the Emirates was a nicer destination than White Hart Lane.

In an interview with France Football magazine, Gervinho gives his reasons for joining Arsenal ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and confirms that the switch will be completed imminently.

“I chose Arsenal because it’s a young group within which I will be able to integrate easily,” said the Lille striker.

“[Is it] a risk? Not at all. I’m going to Arsenal to play. The best risk to take is to look to score goals and to play a lot. In football you have to take risks if you want to win. I’m going to Arsenal to win.

“I had no hesitation. None. But in a transfer there’s always a period of analysis and negotiations.

“All sides had to be satisfied so that things could develop smoothly. I’m going there to play, not to be on the bench. Arsenal love the game and I love teams that love the game.”

Arsenal fans will be relieved to hear that Arsene Wenger is finally making a move in the transfer market, and having impressed for the Ivory Coast in the World Cup, there are plenty of people who think he will make the transition from Ligue 1 to the Premier League with ease.

The Lille striker bagged 15 goals in 35 league games last season and with Arsenal potentially losing both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, the Ivorian’s goals will be of huge importance to the club next season.

Whether his goals can guide Arsenal to silverware remains to be seen and the Premier League odds would oppose Gervinho’s view that he’s going to Arsenal to win with the Gunners available at 7/1 to win the Premier League.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all ahead of Arsenal in the 2011/12 Premier League title betting and Arsene Wenger has a busy summer getting his side ready for a title challenge.
