Tottenham haven’t had a reliable winger since Gareth Bale departed. New faces like Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela have performed in fits and starts while veteran Lilywhites like Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend couldn’t live up to the Welshman’s mantle.

As a result, the north London club are set to dip back into the transfer market this summer to try and find a solution.

Everton’s Kevin Mirallas has been linked with a switch to White Hart Lane for some time. In fact, Spurs had an enquiry into the Belgian’s availability rebuffed in January.

That setback isn’t thought to have deterred them, however, and the distant 16/1 top-four chances are poised to return to Goodison Park this offseason to prise their target away for good.

They’ll have competition for the 27-year-old’s signature though, with West Ham also reportedly sweet on the Liege native.

It’s likely that the lure of European football, which Spurs stand a far better chance of providing, will sway Mirallas in the Lilywhites’ direction, but the improvement the Hammers have made this season can’t be taken lightly.

Although now on a slippery slide down the table, Sam Allardyce’s men were challenging for a spot in the top six earlier in the campaign and have shown a ready willingness to splash the cash of late.

Mirallas is not viewed with as much love as he once was on Merseyside, having started just one of the last six games for the Toffees and generally coming in and out of the side throughout the season.

He has intimated that he would be willing to find a new challenge after three years at Goodison, and could well see a move to White Hart Lane as the next stepping stone in his career.
