All things considered it has been the most testing of times for Tottenham fans in recent weeks, but a Wednesday night Premier League fixture can deliver some much-needed respite.
Riding a Hawaiian-sized wave of optimism created by the goal-scoring form of Harry Kane and a win over bitter rivals Arsenal in the Premier League, the stitching has since come loose.
Liverpool landed the first telling blow by halting Tottenham’s top-four momentum with a 3-2 win at Anfield, before Fiorentina followed up with a clinical jab in Europe and Chelsea finished Maurico Pochettino’s men off with a Capital One Cup final uppercut.
The smelling salts have arrived in the form of Swansea though. The Welsh side have a real problem with the men from north London and this quandary is set to negate their own upturn in fortunes which has seen them string together consecutive top-flight victories.
One of only three home defeats of the season arrived against Tottenham, who have earned the right to be considered Swansea’s principle Premier League bogey team.
That 2-1 triumph at the Liberty Stadium was Spurs’ sixth in a row over the Swans in England’s top division rendering the 3/4 about a seventh more appealing than the formbook suggests.
The last two at White Hart Lane have finished as 1-0 wins to the home side too and given Garry Monk’s men are fairly shy with finding the net on the road, another win to nil may be forthcoming.
Swansea have mustered just less than a goal per game away from home in the league, with Spurs available at 9/5 to take the points and keep their linen clean.
However, there could be more reward in backing a bet that keeps on giving at the Lane which is the 11/10 about 2/3 Tottenham goals.
