It never rains but it pours at West Ham United with manager Sam Allardyce under increasing pressure and the Irons now potentially facing a future without star on-loan midfielder Alexandre Song.

The Hammers boss is the new 9/4 favourite for the chop following Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to London rivals Crystal Palace at Upton Park.

And things could be about to go from bad to worse for Big Sam and the club, amid reports suggesting Song may not stay on beyond the end of the current season.

The Cameroon international has been a revelation at the Boleyn Ground since moving to the club from Barcelona on loan.

Named captain by Allardyce on several occasions this term, many had expected the signing of Song on a permanent basis to be something of a formality.

However a report carried by West Ham United fan site Knees Up Mother Brown is now claiming that a deal for the African midfielder looks increasingly unlikely.

According to the exclusive report, which cites club insiders, the Hammers hierarchy have baulked at Song’s demands, which include wages of somewhere in the region of £100,000 a week.

The Irons did offer the 27-year-old a contract that would have seen him earn as much as he currently does while on loan at the club, but Song is thought to have turned down the deal.

West Ham are in action against Chelsea this week, with Ladbrokes backing Allardyce at 6/1 to leave his post in the event of a defeat to the Blues.

A spokesperson for the bookmaker said: “Having once accused Big Sam of playing 19th century football at West Ham, the Special One could be the man to send Allardyce’s career back to the dark ages.”

Allardyce is also 7/2 to leave West Ham before the end of March while speculation is continuing to mount suggesting he may only survive until the end of the campaign with 6/4 offered on the Irons manager exiting before the end of the 2014/15 season.
