With four victories and four losses from their last eight Premier League outings, Spurs have taken up the mantle of the top flight’s most unpredictable team, but a home clash against a wretched Sunderland side should see the hosts bank another White Hart Lane win at 4/7.

Gus Poyet’s men have taken just a point from their past six matches to leave them bottom of the pile and 3/10 for relegation, with Everton, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United coming up in four of their next five fixtures.

The Black Cats must also overcome a 12-year hoodoo, during which time they’ve failed to win 19 Monday night matches on the bounce, against a team that’s won three of four league games on their own patch since the start of February.

However, there’s plenty of reasons to bulk-out your home win bet by backing draw HT/Tottenham FT at 3/1, as Spurs have struggled to settle into matches so far in the campaign, particularly so since Tim Sherwood took over the reins from Andre Villas-Boas in mid-December.

Just 13 of their 40 goals this term have come before half-time and Spurs are yet to notch twice prior to the break in the league this season, nor have they managed to strike within the first 15 minutes of a top-flight fixture.

The north Londoners have rattled the onion bag 18 times in their 13 Premier League matches so far in 2014, but just five of those efforts have come in first 45s.

An even more damning statistic for Lilywhites followers expecting better value from their bloated ticket price is that, in their last ten games in all competitions, Sherwood’s side have landed just two first-half goals.

With Sunderland able to boast just the one pre-break strike since thrashing Newcastle 3-0 nine games ago, the 11/5 about a goalless first half could be one for the shrewdies here.
