Aberdeen v Celtic: Saturday 12.30 – Adam Rooney to score first @ 7/1

It’s only September, yet the result of the Dons’ first meeting with the Bhoys this season feels like it could be a pivotal one in terms of the Ladbrokes Premiership title.

Aberdeen are protecting the only perfect record in the division when they host top side Celtic with a game in hand and in Rooney the Pittodrie outfit have a weapon fully capable of doing the champions damage.

Last season’s Premiership top scorer has begun where he left off last term, notching four league goals in as many recent appearances.

Everton v Chelsea: Saturday at 12.45 – Ross Barkley to score first @ 12/1

Overlapping the top-two feud in Scotland is the ‘John Stones’ derby at Goodison Park in a fixture where Chelsea ran out 6-3 winners last season.

There are plenty of likely candidates to break the deadlock on Merseyside, but none possibly offering more value to expose Chelsea’s newfound vulnerability than Barkley.

The Toffees’ favourite son has notched twice in the league already and added to his tally on England duty so is clearly in the mood.

Manchester United v Liverpool: Saturday 17:30 – Christian Benteke to score first @ 6/1

The Red Devils supposedly flirted with meeting Aston Villa’s release clause in their search for Robin van Persie’s replacement, instead chucking their funds into purchasing Monaco teenager Anthony Martial.

While Benteke has only registered once for United’s rivals thus far, the Belgian had plenty of chances in the opening spell at Arsenal on the road last time and should have put Liverpool ahead.

United will do well to give the burly striker their best attentions, seeing as he scored home and away against them in a Villa shirt last term.
