What will Rodgers’ revamped Liverpool side look like in 2015/16?

Last season Liverpool fans were treated to a lorry load of goals and a return to the Champions League after four seasons languishing in the top-flight’s purgatory positions of 6,7th and 8th.

However, rather than push on from their nearest ever tilt at a Premier League title into paradise, Brendan Rodgers’ entertainers of 2013/14 have never quite recovered from losing Luis Suarez in the summer and Daniel Sturridge for the majority of the season either.

The highest the Reds can now hope to finish is their current position of fifth, though the more cynical fans will hope it is seventh or eighth, with Aston Villa winning the cup then ensuring the Europa League is swerved next season.

Bemoaning luck aside, it’s also been clear that Rodgers’ recruitment policy was suspect last summer to say the least, producing rumours of further wholesale changes in playing personnel yet again 12 months on.

One thing is for certain, captain Steven Gerrard will not be around as the Reds legend jets off for a lucrative MLS swansong to his career, but who else joins him in the Anfield exodus and who is brought in remains the subject of intense speculation.

Based on a whole host of rumours and some known truths, here is a potential Liverpool line-up for the opening day of 2015/16 minus the injured Sturridge, of course….
