Having used just 23 players en route to their globally-acclaimed Premier League title, Leicester seem plenty aware they’ll likely need to use a few more next time around when the Foxes deal with the added excursion of Champions League football.
Claudio Ranieri’s charges have long-been assured of a spot in Europe’s top club competition, and attention quickly grew as to who would be welcomed into the Roman’s charge next term.
It’s been reported by those Italian folks at Gazzetta dello Sport this week that Leicester are after five players this summer, with Liverpool’s Christian Benteke leading the quintet.
The Liverpool man has been told he’s wanted at Anfield by Jurgen Klopp, but the Belgian has doubtless been at the bottom of Klopp’s striking pecking order.
Good though Leonardo Ulloa and Shinji Okazaki have been, Benteke would offer Leicester a very different proposition.
Ranieri is allegedly keen to bring in support for his seemingly-unbreakable defensive partnership of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth meanwhile, with Roma’s Konstas Manolas targeted for around £24m.
The Foxes won’t be stopping there either according to the Italian press, with Marseille left-back Benjamin Mendy, and Ahmed Musa of CSKA Moscow also courting their attention.
The latter is of particular attention this summer, with Leicester failing to land the Nigerian striker back in January.
Musa isn’t the only striker Leicester are looking at though, with Porto’s Vincent Aboubakar also in the mix for a switch to the King Power stadium this term.
Some will say this is as good as it’ll ever get for the Foxes, but if their reported summer plans are to be believed, Ranieri and co. might be just getting started.
