All morning rumours were rife of Neil Warnock’s impending exit at Loftus Road but a statement on the Queens Park Rangers website today suggests otherwise.

“The Club is aware of rumours circulating today with regards to the future of QPR Manager Neil Warnock,” reads the statement.

“The Club would like to make it clear that Neil Warnock has not resigned from his post and is continuing to work hard behind-the-scenes ahead of the R’s return to pre-season training next week.”

Warnock’s position has been under scrutiny ever since QPR gained promotion to the Premier League but the board members have been reluctant to use their wealth to bolster the squad so far, and it seems their happy with Warnock working to a small budget.

It’s a risky strategy considering the club have the finances to compete at the top end of the Premier League, but it’s also a refreshing strategy in a league that has become dominated by wealth.

There’s still plenty of time for the board to review their strategy and there could yet be a few high-profile signings at the club before the Premier League starts on the 13th August, but punters are better off backing QPR to stay up rather than backing them for a top four spot.

Punters can get 66/1 that QPR use their financial power to gain entry to the top four but as that looks unlikely, the Premier League relegation market is the place to look when searching for QPR odds.

QPR are currently the fourth favourites to be relegated at 7/4 but are also 4/11 to stay up and the Premier League odds would suggest the Hoops are in for a fierce battle this season.
