With Manchester United and Chelsea sharing the Premier League trophy between them for the last seven seasons, they’ll once again lock horns in the race to be crowned champions.

Free spending Manchester City are also likely to push them all the way.

Chelsea – 3/1 to win the Premier League

Chelsea’s chances of winning the Premier league will hinge on how quickly new manager Andre Villas-Boas settles in and whether Fernando Torres finds his form.

The west Londoner’s had the best defensive record in the Premier League last season and if Torres can begin to replicate his strike rate at Liverpool which saw him score 65 league goals in 91 games, they look a great bet at 3/1.

Manchester City – 7/2 to win the Premier League

The acquisition of Sergio Aguero is a huge coup for Manchester City and if they can hold onto star striker Carlos Tevez many punters will fancy them at 7/2.

Last season’s third place was City’s highest Premier League finish in their history, and the FA cup their first trophy for 35 years. With the huge riches available at their disposal they are sure to be crowned champions in the near future. We think that this season it may just be beyond them.

Manchester United – 13/8 to win the Premier League

The current champions are favourites to win a 20th league title this season at 13/8. Sir Alex Ferguson has been very active in the transfer market this summer spending over £50million on Ashley Young, David de Gea and Phil Jones.

Last season United dropped two points at home in the entire campaign but only triumphed five times away from Old Trafford in the league.

Any improvement on their away form this season will make it very difficult to bet against them.

Verdict

Villas-Boas has a huge job on his hands to reclaim the title back from the old master. At 33 he is the youngest manager in the Premier League this season and the second youngest in the league’s history.

Chelsea will no doubt push United all the way but we think Ferguson will again prove triumphant.
