Manchester City’s squad is set for a major renovation this summer. Manager, Roberto Mancini, is set to show a number of big names the exit door in a bid to challenge neighbours Manchester United at the top of the Premier League next season.

The Citizens have seen their title chances derailed in the last few weeks, taking only two points from a possible nine, allowing their rivals to move eight points clear with only six games remaining.

The likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Wayne Bridge and Roque Santa Cruz are all set to leave this summer.

Nigel de Jong and Kolo Toure are just two more names that look to be on their way out of Eastlands.

The tough-tackling Dutchman has fallen well down the pecking order this season and the partnership of Joleon Lescott and Vincent Kompany, as well as Mancini’s faith in the emerging Stefan Savic, has led to a much-reduced role for Ivorian Toure.

More surprising, is the imminent departure of some of the attacking options at Mancini’s disposal.

Bosnian, Edin Dzeko has fired 18 goals this season, despite this, the man who the Citizens paid £27m for only 18 months ago, has been given the green light to look for another club as the hierarchy look set to back Mancini for a fourth successive season.

It seemed a case of forgive and forget for Carlos Tevez after his apology over his refusal to appear as a substitute in the Champions League. However it now appears that he too can depart Eastlands.

The Italian will now look to Arsenal’s 37-goal talisman Robin Van Persie to fire City to the title next season.

As well as the Premier League’s top-scorer, Mancini is also preparing a raid on this season’s Champions League opponents Napoli, in the hope of signing Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

City will also try and lure Belgian starlet Eden Hazard to Manchester, but face stiff competition from both Manchetser United and Real Madrid.
