Arsenal are planning another raid on the Nou Camp with various media outlets reporting the Gunners are closing in on a deal to sign Barcelona forward Pedro.

Arsene Wenger pulled off one for the deals of the summer to prise Alexis Sanchez, who has scored eight goals in 15 appearances for the north London club, away from the Catalan giants and is hopeful of bringing another Barca star to Emirates Stadium.

And that plan appears to be closer to becoming a reality with Spanish international Pedro reported to have handed in a transfer request at the Nou Camp.

Arsenal have been watching the 27-year-old’s situation for some time and with suggestions coming out of the Barca camp that he is unhappy with life at the club, Wenger is ready to pounce.

Pedro, who has scored 53 goals in 176 appearances for the 22-time La Liga champions, is desperate for more sustained game-time and is happy to move away from Barcelona to find it.

The Spaniard’s chances of becoming a regular starter at Barcelona seemed to have diminished after he made way for new signing Luis Suarez in Saturday’s 3-1 El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid.

The former Liverpool man made an immediate impact with an assist for Neymar’s opener and appears to have consigned Pedro to nothing more than an impact substitute.

But Wenger, whose side are 2/5 to qualify for next season’s Champions League, wants to pair the Spain winger alongside Alexis and the returning Theo Walcott in one of the quickest forward line-ups to ever grace the Premier League.

The Gunners boss is also desperate to strengthen his defensive options in January and one name keeps being linked with a move across London to join up with the FA Cup holders.

Winston Reid put in yet another impressive performance in West Ham’s 2-1 win over Premier League champions Manchester City and with talks over a new deal stalling at Upton Park, Arsenal are eyeing up a cut-price deal for the 26-year-old.

The Hammers are still hopeful the New Zealand international will extend his stay in east London but Wenger is watching the situation closely and is ready to make his move when the transfer window re-opens.
