Ladbrokes have cut the odds of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Aguero topping this season’s goalscoring charts from 25/1 to just 5/1 following an impressive start to the season from both players.
As things stand the pair are sharing the top spot, having both netted three times in just two games, and we’re offering 11/1 for Manchester United newboy Zlatan Ibrahimovic maintaining his impressive form and beating Aguero to first place in the charts – while it’s 10/1 for that order to be reversed.
While both Manchester clubs and their strikers have hit the ground running this campaign, last season’s top scorer Harry Kane has failed to find the net so far this time out as his Tottenham Hotspur side have picked up four points from their opening two fixtures.
It’s been an equally quiet start to the new season for Premier League winner Jamie Vardy, who is also yet to register a goal, and our latest match bet favours Kane (8/13) to score his first league goal of the season before his England teammate (6/5), while it’s 9/4 for any English player to finish as top goalscorer in the league this year.
Though he’s already three goals behind his rivals, don’t let that put you off backing Kane outright in this market – as it took the 23-year-old six games to find his feet last year in the Premier League before he went on to grab 25 goals.
Perhaps a standout bet for the optimist would be the 20/1 for Jamie Vardy’s record of 11 consecutive games in which he scored in the top-flight being broken this year.
That’s something that Ibrahimovic, Aguero and Chelsea’s Diego Costa are just nine games away from matching as things stand.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “The blistering start that both Aguero and Zlatan have enjoyed this season has forced us to reconsider the market altogether.”
Premier League Top Goalscorer:
Aguero to be top scorer & Ibrahimovic to be second 10/1
