Manchester United may have suffered a calamitous home defeat to Blackburn last season which could be argued cost them the title, but punters getting excited that QPR can repeat the feat should return to the real world.

There are many similarities in the situation, with the Red Devils sitting second in the league standings and hosting the team that are bottom, while still awaiting their first away win of the campaign.

According to the betting, QPR have more chance of victory than Blackburn, as they are priced at 12/1 to claim three points at Old Trafford, whereas Blackburn were an even loftier 16/1.

However, they should theoretically be a bigger price than Blackburn based on the team that Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to put out.

League position is unlikely to sway Sir Alex Ferguson’s team selection here, with virtually the whole first team rested for the midweek Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, the players will be out to prove a point after almost certainly getting an ear bashing following their latest Premier League defeat at Norwich.

Although it may not seem a big price, 1/5 may be fairly generous for a Manchester United win if featured in an accumulator, especially as they were 1/7 in the aforementioned showdown with Blackburn.

Alternatively, punters may prefer to get stuck into handicap betting, with Man Utd 2/5 to overcome a one-goal handicap and a decent 11/10 to give up two goals but still triumph.

Wayne Rooney is one of the first teamers expecting to return and he opened the scoring in both meetings with QPR last season.

He is 10/3 to break the deadlock again here, with Robin Van Persie heading the market at 5/2.

The price for the draw is 11/2, but it is worth noting that Man Utd have not shared the points in a single Premier League game yet this season.
