With Remi Garde having exited Villa Park after just 147 days in charge, Nigel Pearson is the leading contender to replace the Frenchman as Aston Villa’s next permanent manager.

Pearson, who presided over a great escape at Leicester City last season, is 6/4 to occupy the Villa hotseat.

While any manager would struggle to save the club from an almost inevitable relegation to the Championship this season, he does have experience in winning promotion to the Premier League as a manager.

David Moyes is second in the running, as he looks to rebuild his reputation following disappointing stints at Real Sociedad and Manchester United.

Having built a strong Everton squad with a modest budget, Moyes may be the choice for a Villa hierarchy who aren’t renowned for splashing the cash, and we’re offering 2/1 on him being the next boss of the Birmingham club.

Two managers who have impressed with Championship clubs this season, Sean Dyche at Burnley and Steve Bruce at Hull, are 8/1 and 12/1 respectively to leave their posts for a new challenge at Villa Park.

Some believe that Villa will look for a new gaffer within the club, however, and current caretaker boss and former Coventry City manager Eric Black is 8/1 to take on the Villa helm permanently.

Kevin McDonald, who has been involved with Villa for the past two decades is also among the potential candidates.

Other contenders include Brendan Rogers, Neil Lennon and Mark Warburton. Gary Rowett, meanwhile, 20/1 to make a bold switch from the blue half of Birmingham to become Villans manager.

With the club’s relegation from the Premier League looking increasingly likely, we’re also offering 9/2 on Villa to be promoted from the Championship in 2016/17, and 8/1 for them to be relegated from the Championship next season.
