Tottenham Hotspur’s fading title ambitions should receive a boost this weekend with three points against Newcastle United.
Spurs – who have just finalised their bid for the Olympic stadium in Stratford – face a Toon side who look to be finding their feet under Glenn Roeder and are 11/5 to cause an upset.
The last meeting between these sides ended in a comfortable 2-0 win for Spurs, despite the sending off of Younes Kaboul just after the hour mark.
It promises to be a trickier game this time for Spurs who welcome new signing Steven Pienaar to the squad. The Magpies have not lost in three games at St James’s Park and have seen off West Ham 5-0 and Wigan Athletic 1-0 during that run.
While Newcastle have picked up, Tottenham have stuttered somewhat in recent weeks, losing 2-1 away to Everton and playing out a thoroughly uninspiring goalless draw with Manchester United last weekend.
However, Spurs should have more than enough to come away from Newcastle with all three points and are 5/4 in the Premier League betting to do just that.
It will be a tough game for Spurs though, with Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan sure to give the Spurs midfield a tough game. But with Spurs set to welcome back Jermain Defoe to the starting line up, their free-flowing football should also have an end product after Peter Crouch’s ineffective performance against Man Utd.
A bet on Spurs to win this one at 5/4 and – with plenty of goal scoring talent on display – backing over 3.5 goals at 21/10 looks well worth backing.
A £25 stake on Spurs to win 3-1 would return £475. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
