Newcastle are on cloud nine after beating Chelsea and Tottenham in successive Premier League matches and if Alan Pardew’s rapidly improving side can prevent those teams from scoring, they should have no trouble shutting out Norwich either.
A derby defeat at Sunderland aside, things have been going pretty swimmingly for Newcastle of late in the Premier League and Geordie fans should be rubbing their exposed midriffs at the prospect of Norwich’s visit.
The last two St James’ Park trips for the Canaries have ended in 1-0 defeats, an outcome which can be backed again at a particularly appealing 7/1 with Ladbrokes.
However, considering that this Loic Remy-inspired Newcastle side have scored exactly twice in their last three Premier League home games, which includes the visits of Liverpool and Chelsea, the coupled correct score markets may be worth attention.
Trips to the Emirates and the Etihad have seen Chris Hughton’s side ship an alarming total of 11 goals, while their overall away form is the fourth worst in the division with four losses from five away trips.
A straight win to nil is certainly the less fraught path to venture down and with a very reasonable 2/1 on offer; this may yet prove the best bet of the lot.
It’s also worth noting that Norwich are particularly sluggish starters in the Premier League, having been behind in four of their last five games at half time.
This adds obvious appeal to Newcastle to be winning at both half time and full time at 6/4.
