Swansea take on West Ham in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off, and goals in the match look likely for either side at 8/11.

The home side began their campaign in superb style last week, storming to a 5-0 success away to QPR to give Michael Laudrup the perfect start to his managerial career in Wales.

Travellers West Ham also began the season in impressive fashion, overcoming Aston Villa at Upton Park to record a narrow 1-0 victory.

However, there appears less chance of either side keeping a clean sheet in this fixture, judging by the respective attacking records of either team over recent years.

Indeed, an average of 2.5 goals featured in Swansea matches over the course of the past season, with Hammers games reaping 2.8 strikes most readily en route to promotion.

Also, Swansea’s narrowly negative goal difference from the last campaign suggests that goals regularly feature in their matches both for and against the Welsh side.

Just less than half of the Swans’ 19 Premier League outings last term saw both teams notch, whilst West Ham scored and conceded in 26 of their 46 league fixtures.

Whilst there is little recent form to study between these two sides meanwhile, the past 24 encounters have seen both teams on the scoresheet on a big 17 occasions.

That tradition could be set to continue here, and looks even more likely to do so considering the respective new signings in either squad’s ranks.

New Swansea signing Michu hit the ground running with a debut brace, and he will be eager to impress in front of the Liberty Stadium crowd for the first time.

For the visitors, Modibo Maiga looked lively when appearing from the bench on Saturday, and could prove a useful impact player in this game.

And of course, Hammers midfielder Kevin Nolan can never be discounted, especially after opening his account for the season with the winner against Villa last weekend.

Both sides will play to win, and that bodes well for punters backing both teams to score at 8/11 on Saturday.
