Manchester United’s hunt for a new striker could be coming to a close with reports suggesting Sevilla ace Carlos Bacca is on his way to Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old hit a brace in the Spanish side’s recent 3-2 Europa League final triumph over Dnipro and may now have kicked his last ball at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
According to Metro, United are now favourites to land the £21.3m-rated Colombian despite reported interest from Serie A duo Roma and AC Milan.
Bacca first caught the eye in Colombia for Atletico Junior, where he hit 73 goals in just 130 games, before earning a move to the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with Club Brugge.
A disappointing first season in Belgium yielded just three goals from 10 appearances as Bacca struggled to force his way into the first team.
However, he soon imposed himself and a second season, which saw him grab 31 goals in 54 games, saw Sevilla come calling.
The stuttering start he endured at Brugge was not repeated in La Liga, with Bacca hitting 14 goals in 35 league games and bagging another seven in Europe to take his tally to 21.
That was bettered this season, with 20 league strikes and another eight in cup competitions and that haul of 28 goals is what has made United, and others, sit up and take notice.
Edinson Cavani (6/1) is also on the radar but if the reports are to be believed it will be Bacca who partners Wayne Rooney in the United attack next season.
