He’s been out injured for six months but Danny Rose has made sure he’ll be a talking point as the Premier League resumes this weekend.
The Sun have published a revealing interview with the Tottenham Hotspur full-back, who is adamant that he will return north before the end of his career.
Having moved down from Leeds United to Spurs aged 16-years-old, Rose’s comments suggest he’s angling for a move nearer home sooner rather than later.
Tottenham have endured a difficult summer, with Mauricio Pochettino not signing a single player in the transfer window.
And their strict wage structure means they cannot offer players competitive salaries when up against their top-six rivals.
They’ve managed to keep hold of most of their key men for now, with Kyle Walker the only man leaving North London.
Rose is contracted to Tottenham until 2021, but his comments will be well-received in the North-West.
Manchester City have already spent more than £100m on full-backs this summer, including Rose’s former Spurs team-mate Walker.
But our traders don’t think Pep Guardiola is finished just yet, with 13/8 on offer for him to sign the England international before the window is out.
The Spaniard will face a fight from across town though, with Manchester United and Jose Mourinho firmly in the hunt at 13/8 too.
Liverpool could be in the frame as well at 5/2. The Reds have already signed Andrew Robertson from Hull City this summer, but adding Rose would be a significant arrival at Anfield.
