Manchester United have already taken one positive step for their attacking future with the news that Adnan Januzaj has signed a new five-year deal and they could take another following comments that Remy Cabella will be available in January for £15m.

Albeit, the comment may have been slightly exaggerated, but towards the end of last season, Montpellier deputy chairman Laurent Nicollin said that an offer of £100m would be needed for discussions to start with Cabella.

The 23-year-old has only really improved further this season, taking on more responsibility in an attacking sense.

He has already scored five times in the league and contributed the same number of assists. He was also recently involved in all of the goals in a 5-1 triumph over Lyon.

Despite his importance to Montpellier, coach Jean Fernandez has insisted that his prized asset will be available in the January transfer window, for the right price.

Fernandez said: “In the winter transfer window if Manchester United offers €18 million, as I see it, he must go.

“Even if you ‘kill the team’, you can’t refuse.”

It was Man Utd’s leisurely nature that arguably prevented them strengthening their midfield sufficiently in the summer, with discussions over Thaigo Alcantara and Ander Herrera seeming painstakingly slow.

Marouane Fellaini was eventually bought, but this was even at a greater price to what it could have been had the club moved sooner when first showing an interest.

The only doubt over Cabella is that his preferred position would be behind a main striker, which is a position where David Moyes can already call upon Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa.

But, he does possess technical ability in abundance and the versatility to suggest that he could be a different option in the wide areas, perhaps opposite Januzaj?
