Cash has certainly flowed at the top end of La Liga this summer, with Real Madrid and Barcelona adding world-class talent to their already overflowing collection of stars.
Unsurprisingly there’ll be some current employers of both clubs whose noses will be out of joint following the new arrivals.
Here’s three men that we think should make Premier League switches following Real Madrid’s summer captures:
It was thought that Gareth Bale’s arrival at the Bernabeu would signal the end of the Argentine’s Los Blancos career, but Carlo Ancelotti converting him into a central midfielder soon put paid to that.
Di Maria shone in the middle of the park last term, then enhanced his reputation during his country’s run to the World Cup final.
Acquiring Toni Kroos once again makes Di Maria the subject of exit rumours. But will Madrid keep him to compete with Kroos, Luka Modric and Xabi Alonso while Man United are so willing to spend big on a centre-circle man?
Like Di Maria, Isco performed admirably for Real Madrid last season, but was used in the number 10 role the club have recently spent £63m on strengthening through James Rodriguez.
It’s unlikely the 22-year-old will see too much game-time now the snubbed World Cup Golden Ball man is in town, while Man City could use the Spaniard to provide creative competition to compatriot David Silva.
Arsene Wenger won’t be signing another striker this season, meaning players like Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott or Alexis Sanchez could switch their usual touchline-hugging roles for line-leading ones.
Another winger therefore wouldn’t go amiss for the Gunners and with Jese able to play on either flank, there are worse options available to the north London outfit, who have built a recent rapport with Los Blancos in the transfer market.
