Manchester United have left it late in the day but the Red Devils are poised to lure Odion Ighalo to Old Trafford with a deadline-busting bid.
The Nigerian has been linked with a move to Manchester throughout the window and the player himself admitted a move to join the 20-time champions would be too good to turn down.
Ighalo has netted an impressive 14 goals from 23 Premier League games this season, helping the Hornets reach the top 10 with just 15 games to go.
United have stuttered in front of goal this season with Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial scoring in fits and starts.
With Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez not adequately replaced in the summer manager Louis van Gaal has space for a striker in his squad and if the money is right Ighalo could fill that void sooner rather than later.
United welcome Stoke to Old Trafford this week, having picked up some confidence with a 3-1 FA Cup win over Derby, and the hosts go into the game as 4/6 favourites but unless a striking addition can be added in time, many will fancy the Potters to upset the odds at 9/2.
