Andrea Belotti may well be the most sought-after player in Europe this summer, and the latest reports claim Manchester United are ready to spend big to win his signature.
The Torino forward has fired in 25 goals in Serie A this season, and much is expected of the 23-year-old in the years to come.
Former England boss Fabio Capello has even suggested Belotti could be better than Serie A legend Gabriel Batistuta, whom the Italian coached at Roma.
Little wonder then, that Torino slapped an £86m release clause on their prize asset.
The Italian has been praised this season for his work rate and link-up play, in addition to his scoring prowess.
United already boast youngsters Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, but neither boast the physical presence or all-round match-play of Belotti.
And the Red Devils must also find a successor to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will miss the first months of next season after undergoing surgery on an anterior crucial ligament injury.
The Daily Mail claim United are ready to offer £64m in an effort to land Belotti, who only joined Torino for £5m from Palermo in 2015.
But Jose Mourinho and co will have one eye on proceedings in China.
With Sky Sports claiming that Tianjin Quanjian are confident of signing Diego Costa, Chelsea may also be on the prowl for a big-name striker this summer.
Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez have been tipped as the most likely candidates to fill Costa’s boots at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues can’t be ruled out of the Belotti race just yet.
