Despite a difficult few years on the pitch, Manchester United are having no trouble attracting the biggest and brightest talents in world football under Jose Mourinho, and they’re leading the pack to sign yet another – in the form of Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

The 28-year-old is reportedly stalling over a new contract at the Emirates, and the bookies make it just 5/2 that he follows in the footsteps of Robin van Persie by waving goodbye to north London and hello to Old Trafford.

And it’s just 3/1 for him to make the move by the end of next Summer – odds which could continue to tumble if the Red Devils finish the season in the top four.

There’s no doubt the former Real Madrid man would offer immense quality to any side, chalking up 15 goals and 24 assists since the start of last season.

By contrast, United’s top providers in that period – Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata` – have set up 13 apiece.

Ozil’s immense talent means United could have a serious battle on their hands for his signature, with their local rivals Manchester City and four-time Premier League winners Chelsea both 10/1 to get their hands on the German international.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It could be déjà-vu for Gooners, with Man United sniffing around yet another of Arsene Wenger’s aces.”
