With Zlatan Ibrahimovic on an eight-hour stretch without a Premier League goal, it’s easy to understand why Manchester United may be looking for an alternative up front.

Ironically, it appears the Red Devils have earmarked a player that has been dubbed the next Zlatan as a potential purchase.

According to The Sun, United scouts joined their Chelsea counterparts in a staggering 90-strong group of talent spotters that watched Swedish teenager Alexander Isak last time out.

The 17-year-old Solna native has contributed nine league goals to hometown-club AIK this season and is leading their scoring charts as a result.

Those strikes have helped put the so-called Gnaget third in the league, seven points off the title, with three games remaining.

Isak’s precocious talent has attracted a host of elite European outfits, The Sun say.

Among the many scouts in attendance for the striker’s last appearance against IFK Goteborg, for example, were representatives from Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, while Real Madrid took a look last month.

It’s certainly a good time to cast an eye over the striker, who is enjoying his best run in front of goal this season.

Although he didn’t bag in that 1-0 loss to Goteborg, he’s netted five goal in as many appearances.

His best performance in that time saw him register an assist and a brace in a 6-0 victory over IFK Norrkoping.

As a gifted young Swedish marksman with an eye for goal, comparisons to Ibrahimovic are to be expected.

The original Zlatan can only dream of Isak’s run of form at the moment though, having gone five league outings without hitting the net.

Despite that lean trot, we make him the second favourite to open the scoring in tonight’s EFL Cup derby against Manchester City, at 5/1.
