Man City priced up to outperform both Chelsea and Man Utd

The 2015/16 campaign is a big one for Manchester City and Manuel Pellegrini. Having gone trophyless the season before, the Chilean’s job status depends on the club correcting that drought in the coming months.

There have been new arrivals in the summer, although the bulk of their expenditure went on Raheem Sterling. The jury remains out on whether the England international a) warrants a £49m outlay and b) is enough to propel the Citizens to the title.

The top-flight silver medallists have, in theory, eight points to find if they are to overhaul Chelsea as Premier League champions this term. The Blues’ own lack of transfer activity may be seen as a positive for City’s chances, but other clubs in the title hunt have not been as laid back as the Londoners.

Arsenal added the world-class goalkeeper they have long craved, Manchester United embarked on another spending spree, as did Liverpool.

Yet, as just two days remain before the start of the season, Ladbrokes customers can get 2/1 that City finish above Chelsea and United in the Premier League this term.

The price is part of the bookmakers’ Countdown Special series, which releases a special set of odds for each day remaining before the start of the new domestic season.

If overhauling Chelsea and keeping their local rivals at arms’ length doesn’t seem like something City are capable of, then perhaps the 2/1 about the sky blue club winning any cup competition will appeal.

Ladbrokes offer the odds on City winning any of the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League or Europa League this season.
