Having already alienated the Arsenal fans, Samir Nasri is close to doing the same thing to the fans of the club he is reportedly about to join.
The Daily Mail are today reporting that Manchester United are monitoring the Nasri situation very closely and may step in with a late move, but that seems very unlikely considering they rejected the chance to sign Nasri at the weekend.
It is believed both Manchester United and Chelsea were offered the chance to sign Nasri over the weekend, but while Chelsea’s sights are firmly on Luka Modric, Manchester United couldn’t match the financial package offered by Manchester City.
Sources close to Nasri are saying that the player would rather join Manchester United but realises Manchester City offer him a greater opportunity to win trophies than current club Arsenal do.
The Frenchman is so keen to leave the Emirates that he doesn’t mind which of the Manchester sides he joins, but the Manchester City fans will not be keen to hear that the Frenchman’s preferred destination was their main rivals.
Manchester City are ready to offer Nasri a five-year contract worth £180,000-a-week and Roberto Mancini wants the deal completed as soon as possible.
Nasri was believed to have travelled to Manchester last night in order to undergo a medical and the Blues are very close to completing another long-running transfer saga.
Roberto Mancini’s side may have scored seven goals in two league games this season but the Italian is still keen to improve his side and the Nasri signing is a real statement of intent from Manchester City.
Any side that can boast the attacking talents of Nasri, Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Adam Johnson is well placed to make a push for the title and Manchester City’s current title odds of 3/1 are looking very tempting.
