Manchester United got their pre-season campaign underway this weekend, starting with a comfortable 5-2 victory over LA Galaxy in America.
But while we were expecting the fixture to be all about one man – Romelu Lukaku – we were proved wrong.
Marcus Rashford produced a fine first-half display for the Red Devils.
The young striker can’t have been too enthralled at Lukaku’s big-money arrival, and it again suggests Mourinho does not have faith in the Englishman.
But the initial signs suggest Rashford is out to prove a point, and he fired United into the lead after just two minutes.

And the 20-year-old doubled his side’s lead with another slick finish on 20 minutes.

Having made his point, Rashford was then swapped for Lukaku at the interval.
But the Belgian did not manage a goal on his unofficial debut, and again some will be questioning that first touch of his after a couple of suspect moments in the game.
Marouane Fellaini, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial had no such problems though, putting the tourists 5-0 up before a Giovanni dos Santos double handed LA two late consolation goals.
