Even Luis Suarez would admit to having performed some pretty crazy capers in his time as a Liverpool player, not least his impression of a dog gnawing the postman’s arm which saw him banned for 10 games after biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.

However, it would be his most unhinged move to date should he leave Liverpool for Manchester City this summer if, as is being rumoured, the Citizens attempt to lure the Uruguayan with a sensational bid.

Spanish newspaper Marca suggests Suarez now tops the transfer shopping list of the Capital One Cup winners, even though the Premier League’s leading scorer became Liverpool’s highest paid player in December when penning a new Anfield deal until 2018.

Even if Liverpool fail in their 10/3-rated quest to win the title, Suarez is almost certain to be able to strut his stuff in the Champions League for the Reds next season.

Moreover he would be leaving a club where he is guaranteed to have the team built around him to one which currently has another four top-class strikers in their midst.

Sergio Aguero is Man City’s own version of the Uruguayan in terms of cult status, playing style and prolificacy and while the Argentine remains at the Etihad, Suarez would always be in his shadow.

At Liverpool he has everything he needs in place to succeed and his 25 goals in the Premier League already is the best proof of all that he’s in the right place.

His partnership with Daniel Sturridge is the envy of the other title-chasing sides, where the famed SAS have plundered a combined 43 goals between them, which is more than sixth-place Everton have scored in the league all-told.

If Suarez was going to move, the window looks to have passed and Brendan Rodgers can take a lot of the credit for keeping him.
