Liverpool, who are now 12/1 to win the Premier League, are already thinking about the January transfer window and are reportedly looking at Paris Saint-Germain star Javier Pastore as the Reds seek to boost their attacking options.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his desire to strengthen the squad next month following Liverpool’s good start to the campaign, with the Anfield club in second place and well in the hunt for a top four finish for the first time since 2008 – rated at 5/4 following that loss to Hull.

It now seems that the former Swansea boss has set his sights on Pastore as he tries to add some extra flair to help established stars Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Phillipe Coutinho.

The Argentina international was once regarded as one of world football’s most exciting prospects and was transferred to the French capital for £35m in the summer of 2011.

But despite helping PSG win the domestic title last season, the former Palermo man has fallen out of favour at the Ligue 1 side under new boss Laurent Blanc, starting just eight games under the former France manager.

Still just 24, Pastore might have lost his way in Paris but Rodgers believes the talent that saw the French giants splash out such a huge transfer fee is still evident and is looking at a cut=price deal for the man that hit 14 goals in 69 games for Palermo.

His time in Serie A was such a success that Pastore is still regarded in high esteem, and it is thought that Roma will fight Liverpool for his signature, while Lyon could also be tempted to make a move for the Argentinian to keep him in France.
