Jurgen Klopp already boasts arguably the most powerful strikeforce in the Premier League, but the Reds boss may yet add to that. The latest reports in the press are linking the Anfield club with Inter Milan outcast Gabriel Barbosa.

Inter beat a whole host of Europe’s biggest clubs to sign the forward last summer.

Barbosa – otherwise known as Gabigol – has been tipped over the last 24 months as one of the brightest talents to come out of Brazil.

And after Inter enjoyed great success with fellow Selecao legend Ronaldo just under 20 years ago, hopes were high that Barbosa could lead Gli Azzurri into a new era at the San Siro.

But the 20-year-old has played just 20 minutes of Serie A football, and despite being only six months into five-year-deal, neither the club nor player have ruled out a January exit.

And this is where Liverpool could come in, with Klopp’s style of a free-flowing front-trio of forwards looking the perfect fit for a player such as Gabigol.

Inter shelled out £25m to sign the Brazilian international, and with four-and-a-half years still to run on his contract, the Reds would need to pay at least £40m.

Whether Klopp and the Anfield board feel that is a fee they can justify remains to be seen, but they might just go for it if they feel a Premier League title can be won this season.

Furthermore, it may also enhance the chances of Daniel Sturridge leaving the club, and in doing so, offset some of the fee required to land Gabriel.

Sturridge has been linked with a move to West Ham, with the Englishman struggling to land a first-team place under Klopp.

Ahead of the Christmas football, the Reds sit second in the table, and are 2/7 to claim a third win on the spin when they welcome Stoke to Anfield on December 27.

And with Champions League football next season becoming an increasingly likely prospect, Liverpool’s success over the next few weeks may just help them persuade Gabigol on a move to England.
