Kenny Dalglish will spearhead Liverpool’s charge to the 2011/12 Premier League title after Liverpool Football Club confirmed the Scot has signed a new three-year deal.
Dalglish has revived the Liverpool side since taking over from Roy Hodgson in January and the Reds are now vying with Tottenham Hotspur for the final Europa League spot.
Liverpool’s form under Dalglish has seen them come in for plenty of support in the 2011/12 Premier League title betting and having opened at 16/1, Liverpool are now just 10/1 as punters pile on the Reds.
Initially Dalglish was just going to take charge until the end of this current season, but the Liverpool board have come under pressure from the Liverpool fans to instate ‘King Kenny’ as the permanent manager.
The pressure from the fans has paid off and Dalglish will be joined by Steve Clarke after the former Chelsea assistant manager was also offered a three-year deal.
Dalglish said: “Both John and Tom have taken their time to assess what was best for the football club and bring in the people they wanted to take the Club forward.”
“They are both winners, but understand what the supporters want from a Liverpool side and the way that we should go about things.
“This is a unique football Club and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to help build something special here again.”
Having spent £60m in the January transfer window, the Liverpool board are prepared to back Dalglish with funds and it’s easy to see why the Liverpool faithful are so optimistic about next season.
Manchester United are currently the 6/4 favourites for the title with Chelsea available at 7/4, Manchester City at 11/2 and Arsenal at 7/1.
