Jurgen Klopp may already have his Liverpool side scoring for fun this season, but it appears the Reds boss wants to add more firepower to the Anfield attack, with Porto’s Moussa Marega tipped with a big-money move.
The French-born Mali international has fired in 10 goals in just nine Primeira Liga games this season on-loan for Vitoria Guimaraes, and that form has also attracted the attention of Tottenham, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The 25-year-old has netted over half of Guimaraes’ goals this season, and they sit a highly impressive fifth in the table, a point off second place.
Marega has three more goals than anyone else in the division, and his form is showing why a number of Premier League sides, including Crystal Palace, Stoke and Watford have been linked with a deal in the past.
But his form this season is catching the eye of the Premier League big boys now.
Marega began his career in France with local side Evry FC, and steadily made his way through ranks via Le Poire-sur-Vie and Amiens SC.
A brief spell in Tunisia followed, by the forward really came to prominence with Maritimo.
After joining the club in January 2015, Marega’s 12 goals and eight assists from 38 games saw Porto come calling in the following year’s transfer window.
He may have failed to break into the Portuguese giants’ first-team on a regular basis, but his form this season suggests he’s keen to show his permanent employers what they’re missing.
The forward has a release clause of over £35m, but with Porto seemingly happy for the Marega to play elsewhere, any January bids far below that could still sway the Dragoes to sell.
