Liverpool and Tottenham look set to go head-to-head in the race to sign Swedish striking sensation Valmir Berisha.
The 17-year-old, who has been nicknamed the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his homeland, is hot property across Europe after his impressive performances for Sweden at the Under-17 World Cup.
The Halmstads star finished as the tournament’s top scorer with seven goals and now looks set to leave Sweden, with a January transfer being mooted by many.
And according to the player, a few of England’s top clubs are at the front of the queue for his signature.
He told Aftonbladet: “I have got offers from everywhere, from England, Italy, Spain, Germany, Holland and Russia. There are some options.
“The clubs who have shown the biggest interest are Ajax, Milan, Liverpool, Sunderland, Tottenham and Celtic.
“They have all offered me contracts. But it is a matter of choosing the right one, that is the most important. I want to join a club who need a striker,” he added.
With Luis Suarez’s future at Liverpool still in doubt and Spurs struggling for goals in the Premier League, both sides could be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are right in the mix for Premier League honours with Ladbrokes offering 8/1 on the title heading to Merseyside for the first time in 23 years, and Berisha could provide excellent cover for both Daniel Sturridge and Suarez for the run in to the season.
But the Swedish striker could be more useful to north Londoners Tottenham, who have failed to find the net in their last three league matches.
Andre Villas-Boas’ side have drifted out to 66/1 for the title after a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City last weekend but Berisha’s possible arrival at White Hart Lane could boost the Lilywhites’ chances of reaching the top four at odds of 10/3.
