Andy Carroll is just 5/2 to return to Newcastle this coming season according to Ladbrokes.
The player – who signed from the Magpies 18 months ago in a £35million deal – has been a source of constant speculation over the past few days.
According to several newspapers, including the Daily Mirror, Carroll is fighting for his Anfield future with boss Brendan Rodgers not convinced the England striker can fit into his footballing vision.
Rodgers has refused to rule out loaning Carroll to AC Milan next season, with the Italian side 5/1 to get him over to Serie A.
It’s the Newcastle link that looks most interesting though. Alan Pardew is apparently struggling to keep hold of Demba Ba and, with Carroll showing his best form for the Magpies, a loan move back to the north East could work out for all parties.
However, regardless of the destination, it looks like he’ll be off, with 6/5 the price that he stays at Liverpool when the window shuts.
He’s also 33/1 to win the golden boot which, considering his very decent form at the end of last season, may not be the worst bet you’ll ever take on.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Carroll’s odds of staying at Anfield are drifting by the hour. Regardless of his club next season it would be foolish to rule him out for the golden boot completely.”
