Three points clear of the relegation zone with two games to play, Leicester City look increasingly likely to remain in the Premier League next season but that may not necessarily be the case for several key members of the Foxes squad.
Esteban Cambiasso’s current deal at the King Power stadium is due to expire this summer and while Nigel Pearson would undoubtedly be keen to keep the influential Argentine on their books, the 34-year-old may decide otherwise.
Another notable Foxes star who could also be set for a move away from Leicester in Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez.
Recruited from Le Havre back in January 2014 the 24-year-old has adapted to the demands of the Premier League with relative ease and, along with Cambiasso, has been one of the most consistent performers for the Midlands club in a topsy-turvy campaign.
An excellent passer of the ball who enjoys taking on opposition defenders and shooting from distance, the winger has scored four goals and provided a further three assists for the Foxes from 28 league appearances this term.
Part of the Algeria team that defied the odds to reach the last-16 of the World Cup in Brazil last summer, Mahrez has already attracted admiring glances from on the continent.
Italian giants Roma are thought to be weighing up a summer move while La Liga outfit Villarreal have become the latest big name to be linked with a bid.
The 24-year-old is likely to have further enhanced his reputation as something approaching transfer hot property last week, scoring both of Leicester’s goals in a 2-0 victory over Southampton that moved the team one step closer to another season in the top-flight.
Whether Mahrez is still in the Premier League next season, however, remains to be seen.
