Leicester Citys Premier League survival bid could be in line for a massive boost if they can persuade Inter stalwart and Argentina legend Esteban Cambiasso to join the club.

The newly-promoted Championship winners have reportedly wafted a two-year deal under Cambiassos nose to the tune of 5m.

Inters midfield general is approaching his 34th birthday this month, but must decide if he is ready for a lucrative new challenge in the English top flight after being allowed to leave on a free.

Nigel Pearsons Foxes are already considered the most likely of the promoted trio to stay afloat this season at 4/11 with Ladbrokes, and this price will surely shrink if such a transfer coup can be pulled off.

Although Cambiasso is clearly entering the twilight of his career, adding a truly world class player such as the Argentine with such a glittering CV can only rub-off well on the rest of the squad.

The former Real Madrid man has amassed almost 500 senior club appearances and has previously won titles in Argentina, Spain and Italy while also clocking up over 50 caps for his country.

Undoubtedly Cambiassos finest hour arrived during the 2009/10 season under Jose Mourinho, when he was a fixture in the Inter team which claimed the famous treble of Serie A, Champions League and Italian Cup.

Although he is no spring chicken fitness has never appeared to be an issue, as only once in his 10 seasons at the Italian club, including his last, has the player failed to register over 30 Serie A matches.

Reports suggest Cambiasso is due for talks at the King Power stadium and could complete the move shortly, if negotiations run smoothly.
