Aleksandar Kolarov insists that Manchester City are still Premier League title contenders, particularly if they can begin to reproduce the form that they displayed in the early stages of the season.
Manchester City’s betting odds have drifted out to 20/1 to win the Premier League after a couple of disappointing results, as they followed up on a defeat at Aston Villa with a draw away at Birmingham.
This one point from a possible six combined with their fellow title contenders continuing to pick up victories has seen Roberto Mancini’s men slip eight points behind neighbours and league leaders Manchester United.
However, summer signing Kolarov feels this deficit can be overturned, but winning their next two games, at home to West Brom and away to Manchester United, could be critical.
He said: “If we play against West Bromwich the way we were playing earlier this season, then I think we will still be in the title race.
“Of course we have to win this game first, but our next match after West Brom is the derby – and then you will see our power.”
Manchester City are 2/5 in the Premier League betting odds to beat West Brom, despite only winning one of their last five home games against the opposition.
Meanwhile, Kolarov has been showing a willingness to get forward of late, which included a goal in the draw with Birmingham.
Kolarov is expected to be given the licence to get forward again at Eastlands and therefore could be good value at 5/1 to score at any point in the 90 minutes, while he is 18/1 to grab the opening goal.
A £25 stake on the scorecast of Manchester City beating West Brom 2-0 and Edin Dzeko scoring the game’s first goal would return £400. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
