Top Premier League goalscorer: Romelu Lukaku

Tottenham cruised into the Emirates FA Cup Semi-Finals yesterday but it may come at a price if Harry Kane’s injury is as bad as feared. While it damages Spurs’ hopes of a strong Premier League finish, it also blows the top goalscorer race wide open.

Kane went off after just seven minutes of Sunday’s clash with Millwall, and it’s been reported that he may be out for the rest of the season.

Previously even-money favourite to land this season’s Premier League Golden Boot, Kane is now out at 2/1.

He’s now joined in the betting and the goals by Romelu Lukaku, who set a new personal best with his 19th of the Prem campaign in Everton’s 3-0 win over West Brom.

And if Kane is set to miss a sizeable number of fixtures, the Belgian looks excellently priced to land the accolade for the first time.

Lukaku’s price has tumbled in 2017 from a whopping 20/1 to today’s joint-favouritism.

And he has a two-goal advantage over the man third in the betting and in the scorers table – Diego Costa.

But Chelsea are cruising to the Premier League title and the Blues have quite a favourable run-in to the season’s conclusion, so plenty should find the Spaniard worth backing at 10/3.

After that, the market drifts to Alexis Sanchez at 7/1.

Despite being in and amongst the leader goalscorers all season, the Arsenal ace has never been considered a major contender by our traders.

The Chilean’s shortest price this term has been 4/1, but having failed to score in three of his last four league fixtures, he’s turning goal-shy at the wrong moment.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had been as short as 5/2 earlier this year, but the Swede is suspended for two Premier League games, and faces a four-goal deficit to Kane and Lukaku.
