Carlo Ancelotti will not be able to ignore Salomon Kalou for much longer after the Ivorian striker continued his hot streak in front of goal in Chelsea’s win at Wolves on Saturday.

Kalou has only started two games in the Premier League for Chelsea this season, yet has managed five Premier League goals as Chelsea continue to set the pace in the Premier League.

On the back of his goal against Wolves on Saturday, Kalou has come out and suggested that he is certainly capable of scoring 20 goals this season for Chelsea and at 66/1, Kalou is a huge price to be the Premier League’s top scorer.

“I push myself to score 20 goals and that’s my target,” said Kalou.

“I’ve got six already so I have 14 to go. It is a challenge for myself and I have to keep myself fit if I want to do it.

“I look to get 10 before the end of December and another 10 after Christmas, but I’m already ahead of the plan.”

Kalou’s previous best in a season is 14 goals, but as Chelsea continue to find the net so consistently with 25 goals in nine games, the Blues strike force seems to hold the winner of the league’s golden boot.

Didier Drogba currently heads the Premier League top scorer betting market at 2/1 and has six league goals this season, while Malouda has seven league goals this season and is 9/1.

Anelka is yet to fire in the Premier League with just two goals, but has been Chelsea’s main source of goals in Europe and the domestic cups and is 33/1.

At 66/1 and with a quarter of the odds available for a top three finish, on the basis of last season, Kalou would need 24 goals to finish third.

Carlos Tevez is the main rival to Chelsea’s strikers and is 5/2 to be the top scorer. See the full Barclays Premier League betting odds market here.
