Transfer Deadline Day has kicked-off in earnest and the biggest rumour doing the rounds is one involving a shock Barcelona move for Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata.

Spanish news outlet Don Balon are reporting that Barca boss Luis Enrique is keen to bring Mata to the Nou Camp although any move is likely to take place in the summer.

The Spaniard has scored three goals and assisted four in the Premier League this term and is widely regarded as one of the few leading lights in what’s been a disappointing campaign by the Red Devils’ usually sky-high standards.

A Deadline Day swoop would certainly get tongues wagging but it’s stories regarding possible additions rather than departures from Old Trafford that appear to be more legitimate.

Borussia Dortmund hitman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still very much on United’s radar and his current employers aren’t ruling out the sale of one of their prized assets.

Arsenal are also keen on securing the services of the African Player of the Year but it seems that any transfer war will have to wait until August.
