Arsenal laboured to a 2-0 win over Hull City this afternoon in a match packed full of incident. Alexis Sanchez’s controversial 34th-minute goal got us underway before the Chilean secured all three points from the penalty spot late on.

The result was exactly what the Gunners needed following a turbulent week on and off the pitch at the Emirates.

However, their performance hasn’t gone down well in the Twittersphere, with pantomime villain Sanchez involved in far more than the goals that snatched victory.

Let’s start with reaction to his ‘Hand of God’, shall we?

Then there was the Sanchez ‘dive’.

Meanwhile, Theo Walcott’s head-to-head with Tigers defender Harry Maguire got creative juices flowing. Echoes of THAT Mathieu Valbuena image.

Despite failing to get anything from the game, Marco Silva’s Hull remained resilient throughout and arguably deserved more.

And fans were quick to point out the Gunners’ perceived shortcomings.

And just to compound the away side’s misery, Sam Clucas saw red for a deliberate handball with Sanchez gratefully stroking home the spot-kick that followed. Hmmm.

What a start to this weekend’s Premier League action!
