What odds would you expect of a player that has opened the scoring in half of his last 10 appearances for his club doing so again in their next fixture?
Backing Eden Hazard to break the deadlock has been a profitable business for punters in the last two months and betting on him to strike first again in Chelsea’s home clash with Liverpool has become even more enticing.
The regular price on the Belgian in the first scorer market is an already-tempting 9/2, but the generosity of Ladbrokes knows no bounds and these odds have been increased to an amazing 6/1.
Unsurprisingly this is an industry top price.
Throw in that Chelsea have comfortably won more penalties than any other top-flight side this season with 11 and Hazard is on spot-kick duties only adds another layer as to why the 2014/15 player of the season is worth supporting to score first.
The one negative to this bet may be the concern that Hazard will be rested now that Chelsea have won the league and he is one of three ever-presents – with Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry – in the Blues ranks.
After all, Jose Mourinho did rest the likes of Terry and Didier Drogba in the run-in on the two previous seasons he had secured the title early in his first Chelsea stint.
However, Ladbrokes rules state that “stakes are refunded on any player who takes no part in the match or who comes on as substitute after the first goal has been scored”.
So if you fancy Hazard to score first against Liverpool, make sure to place your bets with Ladbrokes.
